Requirements
Course Accreditation
ACPE (Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education)
IPCE (Interprofessional Continuing Education) is jointly accredited for ACPE
CME
CME (Continuing Medical Education) courses relevant to the professional practice of pharmacy, such as courses in the pharmacology of new drugs, are acceptable
Courses not related to pharmacy practice (e.g., surgery) are not acceptable
CME certificate serves as proof for recordkeeping purposes
Recommended to keep copy of program outline and objectives as documentation that course is relevant to pharmacy practice
CPR/BLS/ACLS/EMT courses are acceptable for CE credit — ONE per registration period
Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Must be sponsored by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or National Safety Council (Note: First Aid courses are NOT acceptable)
Initial Certification CE hours
CPR = 5
BLS = 5
ACLS = 12
EMT Basic = 10
Recertification CE hours
CPR = 3
BLS = 3
ACLS = 6
EMT Basic = 5
